The mural, titled “Showtime”, is the combined visions of San Francisco artists Serge Gay Jr., Elliott C. Nathan, J Manuel Carmona, Simón Malvaez and Christopher McCutcheon, and it depicts a variety of tropes and symbols associated with the Queer nightlife community in which OASIS is the epitome of a safe space. In 2021 we were approached by a Queer owned yoga studio that was about to open in a legendary yoga space on 16th Street near the BART Station. Our intention was to create two murals in the neutral gender bathrooms that were androgynous, positive and calming. Our proposals play with the geometric shapes of Simon Malvaez signature style while using the colors of the new yoga business called HAUM. Located in a private house in the  heart of the Mission District, also known as the latino neighborhood, our client -Queer couple who has lived in the house for many years, wanted to have a mural that could represent comfort and the feeling of a safe place. This residential mural titled “Missionary” was our first experience painting in a stairwell for a very Queer home in the Mission District. The mural depicts several bodies celebrating sexuallity and gender roles. The biggest challenge in this project was the narrow staircase and the limited space.
